This body of work is a culmination of my strongest oil paintings and ceramics that I created while attending Arapahoe Community College. The paintings display my love for nature and architecture. However, the paintings differ in their use of realistic and prismatic color palettes. Greatly influenced by Van Gogh, a superlative colorist that pushed colors to create magnificent artworks, I too work the colors in a way that maintains their vibrancy. The brushstrokes are applied using an impasto technique which achieves all sorts of texture in my paintings. Similarly, my pottery also contains colors and textures that pop. I aimed to create pottery that are both functional and have a strong visual element. The Single-Handed Oil Stone Exhibition brought together two of my favorite mediums: Oil Painting and Ceramics, unifying them with a strong use of color and texture.
